CAIIA President 2016-2017
|This past CAIIA Annual Convention was packed with energy as Steve Washington became the 2016-2017 CAIIA President. Paul Camacho turned over the gavel to Mr. Washington and secured his role in CAIIA history with the presentation of the traditional red cumberbun and bow tie. |
A new slate of officers was elected as follows:
President: Steve Washington
Immediate Past President: Paul Camacho
Vice President: Patricia Bobbs
Secretary/Treasurer: John Ratto
In addition, new Directors were added as follows:
Two Year Director: Neal Thornhill
Two Year Director: Eric Sieber
At the event, Mr. Gil Malmgren, RPA and CAIIA Past President, was honored with the prestigious CAIIA Honorary Member Award. Congratulations Gil, you deserve it!
This year, we had one of the best CE classes ever presented by Michelle Burton of Shoecraft Burton, LLP and CAIIA Past-Presidents Douglas Jackson, RPA of SGD, Inc. and Jeff Caulkins of John S. Rickerby Company. The presentation was "Navigating Property Appraisals". Although Michelle Burton was concerned that the 3 hours allowed was too much, it became apparent quickly that the audience was hungry for more and the class could have extended hours more easily! If you missed this one, you missed an opportunity to be part of the Appraisal elite.

|NEWS UPDATE: The anticipated passage of SB488 has occurred. However, the individual licensing requirement of independent adjuster company employees has been removed. The bill only references Public Adjusters and has important information that all Insurers or IA's should know when involved in a claim where a Public Adjuster has been retained. For a complete reading of the bill, click here.|

|The CAIIA is proud to recommend and support the Society of Registered Professional Adjusters (RPA). The RPA designation is the symbol of excellence and the commitment to continuing education by all staff and independent and/or self-insured claims professionals. If your adjuster does not hold the RPA designation, recommend that they do. Raise your professionalism and that of the entire claims industry...secure the RPA designation.
